The rapid growth of ESI combined with tighter budgets and Federal regulations requires all of us to work as efficiently as possible. As a result, an effective data culling and filtering strategy is essential to the eDiscovery process. Since document review remains the single most expensive aspect of the discovery process, an additional proactive and cost saving approach is to prepare culling and filtering strategies in order to narrow the scope of data for review.
It is estimated that about 90 percent of collected electronic data can be insignificant and non-relevant to the case matter, resulting in hours of unnecessary work. Data culling reduces a large document population to a more manageable set. De-duplication eliminates redundant or duplicative documents from the collected data population, resulting in only one instance of the document being presented for review. Data filtering narrows a dataset by selecting relevant files based on criteria, such as metadata, the custodian list, file type and the time frame associated with the case.
CSI processes the relevant and potentially responsive data population for review into flexible review environments. We consult with legal counsel to identify the precise specifications for the deliverables, or suggest a web-hosted solution that will work for the review team.
Our eDiscovery Consultants consistently guide our clients through the often complex process of eDiscovery to ensure that any project specific nuance is anticipated, so that the project is delivered on-time and on-budget.
