Courtroom Sciences, Inc. has Partnered with GoAnimate.com to create the first animated Supreme Court oral argument

10/31/2014

Online PR News – 31-October-2014 – Dallas, TX – Senior litigation consultant Dr. Ryan A. Malphurs authored “Rhetoric and Discourse in Supreme Court Oral Arguments,” and used his experience in observing more than 100 Supreme Court oral arguments to advise the graphics and animation team in the layout of the courtroom and behavior of the justices within oral argument. On October 25th, the washington post featured the animation on its front page. A link to the story can be found here http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/courts_law/the-supreme-courts-devotees-go-diy/2014/10/22/f5604e88-58a3-11e4-8264-deed989ae9a2_story.html

Dr. Malphurs selected portions of the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) oral arguments to offer viewers a never before seen look inside the Court’s process. Supreme Court oral arguments offer limited seating to the public but do not allow television cameras or radio broadcast—making accessibility challenging for the general public or Courtwatchers. GoAnimate’s platform enables subscribers to use their character sketches and backgrounds to create their own animations. Dr. Malphurs envisions educators using the platform to teach students about Supreme Court oral arguments; he hopes news organizations re-create oral arguments for the lay public; and he looks forward to the day the Supreme Court offers the American public a live televised view of oral arguments.
